AI Disclaimer

Effective date: 1 June 2026

7778IELTS uses AI to mark your IELTS practice tests. This page explains how that works, what it can and cannot do, and how to interpret the results responsibly.

1. AI-Generated Estimates

Band scores are AI-generated estimates and are not official IELTS results. Only an official IELTS test administered by an authorised centre can provide certified band scores accepted for visa, immigration, or university applications.

AI marking is designed to give you accurate, actionable feedback for study purposes. However, AI models can make errors, misread context, or apply criteria inconsistently. Treat scores as a strong study signal, not as a certified result.

2. How the AI Marking Works

Writing submissions are evaluated against the four official IELTS Writing Band Descriptors: Task Achievement/Response, Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range and Accuracy.

Speaking submissions are evaluated against the four official IELTS Speaking Band Descriptors: Fluency and Coherence, Lexical Resource, Grammatical Range and Accuracy, and Pronunciation.

The AI does not have access to your previous submissions or personal data when generating a score — each marking is independent.

3. Limitations

The AI cannot evaluate all aspects of IELTS accurately, particularly nuanced academic register, very high band (8.5–9.0) writing, or unusual regional accents in speaking. Its accuracy is highest in the Band 5–7.5 range.

Feedback on error types (grammar, vocabulary) is generated probabilistically and may occasionally misclassify errors. Always read explanations critically.

The Service does not simulate the full IELTS testing environment. Real IELTS tests are administered under specific conditions by trained examiners.

4. No Affiliation with IELTS Partners

7778IELTS is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to IELTS, the British Council, IDP Education, or Cambridge Assessment English. IELTS® is a registered trademark of IELTS Partners.

This Service cannot be used to obtain official IELTS scores. Only an official IELTS test administered by an authorised centre produces accepted certification.

5. Dispute and Re-Marking

If you believe an AI score is significantly inaccurate, you may request one free re-mark per attempt via the report page. Re-marks run the same AI model; they provide a second pass but do not constitute a human review.

We do not currently offer human-reviewed marking. If you need a certified score, sit an official IELTS test.

6. Responsible Use

Use AI feedback to identify patterns in your writing and speaking, prioritise what to practise, and track progress over time. Do not use a single AI band score as a definitive measure of readiness for your official test.
